4. Remember Sister Angela

This month, we lost an incredibly impactful trailblazer in the world of midwifery and birth centers, as well as a dear friend, colleague, and mentor — Sister Angela Murdaugh. Sister Angela was one of AABC’s Founding Mothers, the founder of the first freestanding birth center in Texas in 1972, as well as an advocate and educator for midwives everywhere.

We would like to honor her legacy at this year’s AABC Birth Institute with a memorial board. If you have photos or memories of Sister Angela you’d like to share in her memorial, please send them to dallaslacross@birthcenters.org.
